The Rubberwood Block Flush Mount Ceiling Light reduces a ceiling fitting to a small wooden block with a lit face. Wood is the whole point here: it is the most adaptable material in an interior, at home in rustic and contemporary rooms alike, and it gives a hard-working ceiling light a warmth that painted metal never manages. Heads sit behind white acrylic lenses that keep the light even and the source out of view.

Three layouts are offered. A single head measures 3.9 x 3.9 x 3.1 in (10 x 10 x 8 cm) and draws around 7W, a two-head bar measures 7.9 x 3.9 x 3.1 in (20 x 10 x 8 cm) at around 14W, and a four-head square measures 7.9 x 7.9 x 3.1 in (20 x 20 x 8 cm) at around 21W. Each head uses a GX53 base, and sets of five or ten are available.

The shallow depth makes it useful where a pendant cannot go: low ceilings, hallways, landings, kitchens, closets and rented rooms that need light without drama. Because it is sold in multiples, it also suits ceilings planned as a grid of small sources rather than one central fixture. It runs on AC 110-240V, works with common wall switches that are not included, and is intended for indoor use.
